Dr. Sapin grew up in Southern California and first visited Alaska in 1974. After completing his medical training he worked in Kotzebue as a US Public Health Service officer from 1978-1983. Since then he has worked in private practice in the lower 48 and as an Associate Professor of Cardiology at the University of Kentucky. He has been a cardiologist at ANMC since 1997. He is married with two grown children. He finished 22nd place in the 1986 Iditarod Race.
