Elizabeth Ferucci MD, FACP, MPH

EDUCATION: Dr. Ferucci received her BA from Columbia College, majoring in Chemistry and graduating cum laude. She received her MD from New York University School of Medicine in 1997, and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. She completed residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Rheumatology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. She earned her MPH degree from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2007 and was inducted into the Delta Omega Public Health Honorary Society.

EXPERIENCE: Dr. Ferucci’s clinical practice encompasses all aspects of rheumatologic disease, especially rheumatoid arthritis, diffuse connective tissue diseases, and systemic vasculitis. In 2007, she and Dr. Farah Madhani-Lovely, pulmonologist at ANMC, started a Connective Tissue Disease Clinic, caring for patients with combined rheumatologic and pulmonary diseases, including interstitial lung disease and pulmonary hypertension.

Dr. Ferucci also performs clinical research. Her primary interest is the epidemiology of rheumatic diseases in Alaska Native and American Indian people, especially rheumatoid arthritis which is highly prevalent in these populations.

PERSONAL: Dr. Ferucci came to Alaska because her husband, Dr. Paul Ferucci (a urologist in private practice) was born and raised in Anchorage. She has two children and enjoys raising her family in Alaska, as well as participating in outdoor activities including snowboarding, skiing, and hiking.
